Snatching Defeat From The Jaws Of Victory

Well, I didn't see that one coming. I would like to commend Virginia Tech on assuming the fetal position towards the end of the game. They really did that better than I think any other team could.

Couple things from the broadcast:
  • Stop calling a 25/52 performance with 2 INTs "Heisman worthy." Bullshit. BC couldn't do a thing on offense for 55 minutes. Then, Tech goes into the prevent and Matt Ryan wins the Heisman. Tech gave that away, BC didn't win it. If anyone tries to tell me otherwise, I'll punch them right in the throat.

  • I'm paraphrasing here, but Todd Blackledge couldn't tell us enough that VT's program was built on a team atmosphere, devoid of any superstars. Oh really? What was Tech before Michael Vick? Oh, you hadn't heard of them before that? Me neither.

  • After tonight's putrid performance, I am convinced that BC will lose again this season. #2 team in the country? Yeah, right. Maybe top 15, but nothing better than that.

The Apocalypse of Hate

Yes, that's right, it's the battle for the Big EAST championship tonight. Wait, no, that can't be right, not if Boston College is involved. What conference championship could BC contend for? Hmmmm. Oh right, the ACC.

Yes folks, it's BC @ Virginia Tech tonight for the lead in the vaunted, heralded, and acclaimed Atlantic Coast Conference. If you're hoping for a meteor to hit Lane Stadium tonight, you have only scant few minutes left.

As far as the Mountaineers stance on this game, we have to be buying Virginia Tech tonight. Boston College is the stronger team with the easier schedule to end the season. Virginia Tech, on the other hand, has no offensive line (and no QB tonight) and a remaining trip to UVA.

In the end, though, it's going to be tough to cheer for any of these teams. Usually when that happens, I just put money on the game and cheer for that. Unfortunately, I'm not sure I particularly like either team tonight. With Tyrod Taylor, VT looked to be the player here. With Sean Glennon, it looks like any team but VT.

My advice? Drink heavily.

I Was Really Drunk For This Game

Another blast from the (not-so-distant) past.

This would be a better highlight reel if Pac-Man weren't suspended by the NFL, Travis Garvin weren't in prison for armed robbery, and I didn't still have pepper spray in my eyes, but it's still pretty sweet. I like to remember my past players as frozen in the highlights that I'm watching. It makes things easier for my fragile mind.

In Hindsight, Michael Vick Probably Shouldn't Have Fought Dogs

Finally, some fantastic news in the story of Michael Vick of Virginia Tech: he's going to be suspended. At least that's what Jason Cole at Yahoo! Sports is telling us:
Two NFL sources said that commissioner Roger Goodell likely will announce this week or next the suspension of Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick [of Virginia Tech] for the 2007 season.

"That's the direction it's going and has been from the time this started," one of the sources said this week.

In July, Goodell told Vick [of Virginia Tech] not to report to training camp in the aftermath of a federal indictment for his alleged involvement in dogfighting on a property he [of Virginia Tech] owned in Virginia. Vick [of Virginia Tech] has since been arraigned on the matter and is facing trial in November.

I wonder where Michael Vick [of Virginia Tech] went to school?

There are a lot of reasons I don't like Michael Vick [of Virginia Tech]. From "the run" in 1999 to just being the brother of Marcus to Ron Mexico to dogfighting, Michael [of Virginia Tech] and I have never been BFF. It's not like I wanted the guy to go and completely fuck up his entire life, but he's been on this path for awhile now. Now that he [of Virginia Tech] has gone and done it, I want the NFL to come down hard. Looks like Goodell is going to do it, too.

Good for Michael [of Virginia Tech]. He deserves everything that is coming to him.
