Greg Robinson Might Be An Asshole

Apparently, Greg Robinson hates Greg Schiano, Rutgers, and the State of New Jersey, not to mention kittens, the American Cancer Society, and airbags. Unfortunately for us, he only voiced his distaste for Rutgers in a recent interview:

Quietly, the Orange formed some hard feelings and as their program has struggled while Rutgers has risen, it's been said that the direction of one is tied to the other, almost as if Syracuse isn't recruiting New Jersey as well now and Rutgers is taking that area over.

During Saturday's ESPN Regional telecast, it was reported Syracuse Coach Greg Robinson called Rutgers a "one-year wonder" during a meeting with ESPN's crew the day before the game.

"Paul Pasqualoni was here 14 years," Robinson was quoted as saying. "We got five (recruits) in one year. That would be 70 if we were here that long. We're going to recruit their tails off. They're (Rutgers) a one-year wonder. Do I like them? No. The recruiting thing -- you wait and see."

Greg Robinson talking about recruiting domination is like the French talking about military superiority: they both sound retarded. And one year wonder? Rutgers just beat Syracuse -- in the Dome -- by 24 points in the year AFTER their supposed 15 minutes of fame. Something tells me Greg Robinson might not be the smartest guy in the world. Oh yeah, it's the 6 wins in 2.5 years that told me.

On behalf of all of us, "shut the fuck up!"

Does Syracuse Still Play Football?

(from L to R, Syracuse's former glory, Syracuse now)

The Sports Nirvana has a fascinating and not-at-all long read on the past, present, and potential future of Syracuse football. While the Marvin Graves game still is fresh in my mind, I just don't have the hatred towards Syracuse like I do Pitt, Penn State, or Virginia Tech. It's almost difficult to watch such a storied program reduced to such rubble.

Will they ever get back? I don't know. I think we all know that it won't be under Greg Robinson, though. The sooner they can get to smashmouth football, the better.

1-Loss Season: Week #6

Well, that sucked. As you can tell, my heart just hasn't been in this blog for the past week. In fact, it was all I could do to not get in a tepid bath and drop in a working toaster. Be happy for me that I'm at least still with us. Anyways, enough of my quasi-suicidal thoughts, let's get to the Syracuse game previews.

Stiles
How will they bounce back? That's the question. My guess. They come out and try to establish the run early and often. And hold a nice lead after one. From there, the Mounties pull away.

Does this change the devastating loss from last week. Nope. But WVU can still get to a BCS bowl game. And it starts on Saturday.

WVU (-27) 42
Syracuse 17

Eastern Michigan +29.5
Oklahoma -11 vs. Texas
Georgia +1 @ Tennessee
Cincy +4 @ Rutgers
Virginia -10 @ Middle Tennessee State
5th Year Senior
Oh how the mighty have fallen. No, I'm not talking about WVU after that loss because we will be just fine. I'm speaking of the Syracuse Orangemen, wait they dropped the men because women think they are equal (I don't care who are that is funny). The Orange were once a Big East power but are now terrible.

I only need to give you two stats to show who is going to win the game. The Syracuse defense on average allows 34 points and 231 rushing yards a game. So CRR's play-calling that I've been complaining about for the past week will work against the Orange. Andrew Robinson will be able throw the ball a little on our D but this should be an easy win to get our Big East record to .500.

WVU (-27) 47
Syracuse 10

Virginia -10 vs. Mid Tennessee St.
Nebraska + 6 at. Missouri
Oklahoma vs. Texas UNDER 55
NC State +17.5 at FSU
Georgia vs. Tennessee
Charley West
I hope we win tomorrow.

WVU (-27) 44
Syracuse 13

Cincinnati +4 @ Rutgers
Missouri -6 vs. Nebraska
Iowa +9 @ Penn State
UCLA -22.5 vs. Notre Dame
Virginia -10 @ Middle Tennessee State

Syracuse Is Confusingly Ugly

I think Syracuse has ADD.

First they change their nickname from the Orangemen to the Orange. OK, I get it, they had to be more PC. Then, they decide to overhaul their jerseys, deciding that ugly is better than good-looking. Included in this jersey overhaul were an all-orange monstrosity and numbers on the helmet, ala Alabama. Then, just a year later, they do away with the numbers on the helmet and debuted what you see above.

Personally, I would have liked to seen the "S" a little bigger. That way we could see it from space.

Joe Glenn is My Second Favorite Coach

Back when Donovan McNabb was the quarterback for the Syracuse Orangeman, it was game I circled every year on the calendar. However, since McNabb left campus, it has been a slow and steady fall into oblivion. Today, might be the low point.

According to reports, Syracuse backed out its trip to Wyoming that would have completed a home and home between the Orange and Cowboys. Apparently, Syracuse shipped a check for $200,000 check and said, 'no thanks'. All this did not set well with Wyoming coach Joe Glenn. In fact he had some choice words:
"It's just horrible, and it shows no class (by Syracuse)," Glenn told the Wyoming Tribune-Eagle of Cheyenne. "We signed the contract, and we went out there last year to play them. It doesn't show much character on their part."
From there, he took it up a notch:

"I've got a new favorite team this season," Glenn quipped. "Anybody who beats Syracuse."

"They leave a hole in our 2009 schedule, so if you want to wish bad luck on somebody this year, wish bad luck on Syracuse," Glenn said. "They signed a contract to come to Laramie and play, and they didn't honor it so I'm putting all kinds of voodoo on them."

All in all, this Glenn guy is alright in my book.

Where's Waldo: Douchebag from Syracuse Edition

If you guessed the rather looking normal man with the well-groomed mustache, you would be incorrect. On the other hand, if you guessed the obvious virgin in the blue and orange tights, orange cape, utility belt made out of oranges, orange rubber gloves, blue sunglasses, and Jimmy Neutron hair/hat, well, you would also be incorrect. It's actually the guy getting out of the truck in the background. That guy is such a douchebag!

I'm just kidding. It IS the jackass on the left. Good guess. That one was pretty easy.
